Hopefuls on Haters

I've enjoyed reading all the homework blogs from hopefuls about haters. Some girls really put a lot of thought and time into writing out their responses and it showed.

Haters are society produced. We are pitted against each other, told to buy this makeup to enhance our face, this product to stop wrinkles or cellulite, and get surgeries to correct our "problem areas." Society makes money off people hating themselves and each other so much that they need all these products to enhance, correct, make them better then the person next to them.

I feel like if we all learned to love ourselves a little bit more, love the bodies we were given, respect that other people are different and were also given different bodies.... and that different doesn't mean less.... then there would be less haters, because people wouldn't hate themselves or feel the need to hate on other people. Wishful thinking on my part and will NEVER happen but a girl can hope.

I believe your assessment is correct but there are always going to be people who are just assholes who take advantage of the anonymity and safety provided by the internet to attack others for no real reason. Some do it just because the enjoy antagonizing and getting a rise out of other people and some do because they really do have deep seated emotional and/or mental problems. The internet to me is like a modern day version of the wild west where pretty much anything could happen. It is a very unsafe space and if people are going to venture there they really need to develop a thicker skin or they need to find heavily moderated safe spaces.
