Infectious,
wanting something so bad
because it is so bad for you
staring at the floating worm drenched in tequilla,
nothing good can come from it,
anger, bar fights and the worst bout of heaving
that last dry nothing of my stomach
yet I guzzle again and the worm goes down

I see here with her tattoo
peeking perched out of those jeans
dancing some crazy snake charming,
intoxicating swirl as she walks away
my mind screams entrapment
no lawyer will help me now
as move forward to catch the next infection

My desire plays my Will,
a slap-happy hillbilly banjo song
and I trot forward joyfully anticipating
a long sweaty parade of pain

The day after is like watching
some slow train wreck
bash itself against a wall over and over
the needle stuck on that one scratch
I can never get myself to fully itch

and this infection has spread all over me
