I had the best time last night buying Christmas presents! I absolutely abhor shopping but this was fun.
My buddy Ed from Magadog is a property appraiser and with the downturn in the real estate market he is hitting some hart times financially. The prospects for a nice Christmas for his 4 year old daughter are pretty bleak.
So...my buddy John and I decided that instead of buying each other a bunch of crap that we really don't need that we would take the money we would have normally spent on presents for each other and buy stuff for Ed's daughter. Try to imagine for a minute two really big guys running through the aisles of Target picking up dollies and stuffed animals going, "You think she'd like this??"
We got some really nice stuff too. I think we spent a total of about $110 or so between the two of us. You would be surprised how much stuff you can buy for that money.
That little girl is going to have an awesome Christmas after all.
Isn't that the whole meaning of the holiday to begin after all? It's not to see how much stuff you get or to compare how many presents you have under the tree compared to how many you bought for the other person. The whole meaning is really to enrich another person's life or to bring a twinkle to the eyes of a little girl. (Don't even go there.)
