Here's the whole Supersuckers I-25 corridor tour weekend:
Went to the beer fest on Thursday, had a great time with my buddy Brian, drank mas cervezas and got a safe ride home from his woman (Thanks again Sarah).
Friday held more beer fest "fun", this time with the Supersuckers in attendance. Met Eddie and Dan (First time this weekend I did a horrible job of introducing the girl to people, just wait there will be more). Eddie was super cool and really friendly. However, the rest of the beer fest that night sucked rotted aardvark ass. Way too crowded, way to frat-boy. Went to the PBR booth (How could I not) and had beer spilled on the girl and I and had my left eye gouged during a free-bee t-shirt toss. People need to learn how to place the appropriate amount of value on an item over common fucking human decency, it's just a t-shirt (Really, Im not bitter because I didn't get one - in fact the girl and I both got shirts). Left the beer fest after last call and headed over to the Bluebird to catch the show. Got into the show towards the end of the country set. I hear that I missed a cover of Liquor, Beer & Wine which would have been groovy. My favorite band covering one of my other favorite bands. Met up with Chris (the Mid-Fi guy) at the show (Second time this weekend I did a horrible job of introducing the girl to people, just wait there will be more). Awesome rock set though. Just to keep it all up to speed, went to the after party at Benders. As I said in an earlier post, it was good to see sKoTt and SamanthaKayne again and it was great to meet ironbhr. And I was glad that I actually got to introduce the girl to Samantha since she (the girl) slipped out to pick up a friend the last time we all met up. Eddie, Jordan and the Railbenders put on a great, loose and fun set. 'Suckers and 'Benders songs as well as many covers (Including a countrified version of Purple Rain that was a once in a lifetime occurrence I'm sure). Added bonus, a piss-drunk Dan "Thunder" Bolton dancing wildly next to Samantha and iron.
-Deep breath- Damn this is wordy.
Saturday, headed up to Boulder (Feel the need to point out that I just don't care for that fucking town... sorry sKoTt) Hit the in store at Bart's. Great, laid back country set. Got a case of beer from Chris and Brian (Local contact from Mid-Fi. Third and final time this weekend I did a horrible job of introducing the girl to people). Quiet, unsatisfying dinner with the girl (Not her or me, it was the restaurant that was unsatisfying) and then off to the Big Show. I felt this show was even better than the one in Denver. The band seemed to be having a really good time. There was a great country harp blower who's name I can't remember that sat in with the band for the country set that gave it a different feel. The crowd, consisting of many first timers, really seemed to eat up the Supersuckers.
Ok, on to the new information. Met up with sKoTt and headed up to Ft. Collins. The crowd was small, but the 'Suckers came to play and play they did. Eddie shared some information with the crowd, it seems that the Greatest Rock-N-Roll Band In The World will be playing Willie Nelson's daughter's wedding. How cool is that? Got to hear an excellent cover of Breakin' the Law with just Eddie, Rontrose and Murderberger. Didn't know that song would work as a country tune. The rock show starts and these jackasses in Ft. Collins (Who, apparently, don't get a good rock show very often) decide to explode in an unnecessary, aggressive mosh pit. The entire crowd seemed to be on the edge of an eruption of violence and chaos at any moment. sKoTt and I lost our prime spots (About three rows of people back from the stage) due to these assclowns. The band cut the set short (No breakdown during Born With a Tail, no mention of the thankless role of the bass player). The 'Suckers still put on a great set, and I'm not complaining in the least about them... I'm just frustrated that a crowd of idiots put a bit of a dampener on my Supersuckers mega weekend. Oh well. It was great to spend a bit of time with sKoTt and get to know him better. Had a lively discussion on world issues on the ride back from Ft. Fun.
Ok, I think this is now my longest post, sorry for boring anyone out there with my ramblings about my weekend in the general vicinity of the Greatest Rock-N-Roll Band In The World.
