Well I'm finlly out of my shitty little hometown and back in London, in a swanky new student dig too
The last 2 months have been such utter hell that every little thing is making me feel very good now, which is no bad thing. The room that I'm paying over the top for is actually about as flash as you'd expect for 95 a week, en-suite, Internet access, loads of storage space, 2 wardrobes, a lightswitch next to the bed and the campus itself is marvelous, loads of squirrels and crows floating about.
Gigwise I've been and seen Celtic Frost with cryptopsy and Gorerotted back in August which was awesome, although I wish Celtic Frost had played more stuff from Monotheist (love it/loath it, you have to hear it, IMHO its the best album, along with Hrimthusum by Necrophobic, to come out this year), Cryptopsy were stunning agai9n, and Gorerotted are Gorerotted, how can you not love them Other than that I dragged my GF to see Enslaved/Zyklon/1349 on Friday, and to my surprise she loved all of them, especially 1349. To cap things off I'm seeing the london Leg of that tour tomorrow and I'm seeing Keep of Kalessin and Satyricon on Saturday, I may even gosee Insomnium, Octavia Sperati and To-Mera on wednesday since nothing much is going on at Uni right now.
Oh yeah, my gig friend Gib'll be DJing on Total Rock Internet radio on thursday (6PM-9PM GMT) covering for Genius Maz. He'll palying all sorts of Black/Death/Doom Metal so listen in and make a request
Other than that I'm just planning on getting some reading done for the next semester and going to a couple of freshers events to meet some new people and of course watching tonnes of anime.
Plus everyone of you with the remotest interest in Black Metal should give Code a listen, I bought their album Noveau Gloaming after hearing Gib play The Cotton Optic on the radio (Its on their
Myspazz too along with Tyburn and Radium) and its quite simply one of the best albums I own, its varied, clever, cold, Dark and emotive, it pushes the bounderies whilst still being firmly rooted in Norwegian Black metal and has that wonderful aura of total physical and psychic decay that the current crop of English Black metal has. Seriously just give the tracks on their myspazz a listen and see what you think.
