WHY THE FUCK ARE THEY PLAYING THE DIRTY DANCING THEME SONG ON THE OLDIES STATION??!

ahem

i have proclaimed this summer "the summer of no"
*no bra
*no shoes
*no makeup
*no "real" job
*no drama
*no bullshit
and of course
*no sex (its going well in case you were wondering)

poppy has also turned me on to the lost art of not wearing panties. im not including that in the 'summer of no' however, because i like them every once in a while.

Let me get this out of the way first:

One of my ex-girlfriends was a Clear Channel DJ, and she offered some insight into oldies and how its changed. Apparently, when we were young, oldies were quite old, like 25 years. The window has shrunk to 10 by most stations, sometimes even five, in order to get a larger share of listeners, since people tend to listen to a wider range of years than they used to.

Now, on to the summer of NO.
I would love to have a summer without shoes, but there are waaaay too many rocks here and waay too much grossness (the lake next to us dried up and is now filled with fish rotting in the sun).

And I can relate to the oldness. When the office princess made a comment about old bands like Nirvana... I was in HIGH SCHOOL when Nevermind came out. I remember it well. "Smells Like Teen Spirit" aired as the big premiere video on the Thanksgiving weekend episode of 120 Minutes. And everything, and I do mean everything, went downhill from there.
