I'm crazy excited about the Flogging Molly show in town next week. It's gonna be some good, heel-kicking times.
Got in my first ever car accident last night. Grrr. Had come back from a low-key show (Roberta Chevrette) and was heading to an all-night diner around 1:00 AM for some coffee. Traffic was fairly light and everyone was going around the speed limit on a four lane highway. I was in the second lane from the right. A semi-truck was in the lane to my left. No one was in the other two lanes. There were a couple vehicles scattered through the lanes in front and a couple behind, but none close enough to worry about...maybe the closest was 50 feet away or so. No one had changed lanes and nothing else unusual had happened. Out of the blue, the truck turns on his blinker and immediately shifts into my lane, which unfortunately is exactly where I am. So as soon as I see his blinker I try to get the hell out of his way, but he turns into my lane so fast I can't get away in time. Nothing like having a big ass truck plow right into the side of your car to give a guy a good feeling. My car got knocked out of my lane, through the next lane and part way onto the shoulder. I pull over and look up and the semi has totally disappeared down the road and no one else stopped. Since we were going 65, the guy never slowed down, and it was dark out I couldn't catch his license plate. So now I've got a car with a smashed up side that's making all sorts of nasty noises, and I've got no idea who the other party was and no witnesses.
I'm not even sure if I'm going to try to make a claim since I had to get new insurance when I moved to California. I hate to think what it would do to my premiums to put a claim on a policy with a new carrier when I've only been a customer for a few weeks.
