I am in awe after the Scout Niblett show. She kicked ass, unleashing ferocious riffs even if she was a little blue "because of a boy." She started with a Cars cover and ended with a Black Sabbath cover.

But the best moment of the evening was her strumming the guitar while sitting behind the drum kit and then pounding the skins during Pompoms (sample...

Wow was Destroyer ever hot last night!!! Rare that you see an opening band come out for an encore.

Magnolia Electric Co.....well, better luck next time.

Tonight, Scout Niblett at Main Hall and Wednesday Ray Davies at Olympia.

I'm going to need to quit my job to be able to attend shows full time!

I will be finished with my job at the end of the week... meaning I will be too poor to go to shows. frown

I literally didn't do anything today except for eating and watching television.

Glad I'm going out tonight or else I'd feel like a total slug.

Hopefully the Magnolia Electric Co./Destroyer show does disappoint.

Last time I saw each band, both singers were horribly drunk and the shows suffered.
nicolajane:
hugs i had a weekend of being a slug hehe smile i hope you had a fun night out though and it was worthwhile kiss xxx
semicynical:
I heard really good things about the Toronto show on Saturday night, so hopefully the journey east didn't tax them all too greatly.

Weird recent dating pattern:

the last four girls I've dated have been from Alberta and three of them have been school teachers.

that is all really........I'm bored

playing right now: The Slider - T. Rex

oh yeah, The National kicked ass last night, great show.
valcapone:
Cool. Say hello. smile
semicynical:
Of course the National kicked ass! I'm so glad you enjoyed the show. I like everyone I know or quasi-know to see and love the National in concert.

I'm attempting to do my taxes myself ........

frustration is rampant....

btw, why is Love's Forever Changes playing everywhere I go?? Is there a Love revival going on?? Mind you, I'm all for this but I am nonetheless intrigued by all this Love being suddenly bandied about.....
kaffeine:
That was one the only ones out of all my Dad's records which I never listened to. I don't know why... perhapsI thought the cover was too "hippie" for me. Now I regret it, beause all of these "records you must listen to or else the hipster mafia will give you a wedgie and take your Chuck Taylors away" lists have Forever Changes on them.

Not that I care what a bunch of effette mullett-wearers think of my taste or anything... shocked

I hope you enjoy the National. They put on a fantastic show. I've extremely sad that I'll be missing their Toronto gig this week.

How are your bootlegging skills ... ?

Canadian Idol hopefuls invaded my workplace today.....

It was amazing to see as much bad prom-wear grouped in one very large space.

btw, The Constantines at Club L'ambi tonight.......be there....I will after I see Jane Mappin at L'Agora.

Turned on the TV when I got home and turned my back....then I heard some women yelling "put it in.....haaaaard, haaaarrd."

I thought some network had mistakenly put on a porn flick at 17h00 but it turned out to be curling!!

I am now listening to curling without actually watching and I've found myself turned on a bit at some moments!

anyway, can't wait for...

Was on a date last night and I bumped into the Tree Hugger who was not on a date.

I know it's petty but a part of me felt good...

Golden Brown..........still in heavy rotation.......it's a sickness!
kaffeine:
Don't worry, I am secretly petty too.
And I heard Golden Brown on a podcast today, so it's stuck in my head as well. There, you're not alone. tongue
semicynical:
Perhaps your Golden Brown fixation reveals a profound desire for frozen potato products.

And oooh ... a date! Smashing. I should go on a date.

Why have I had The Stranglers' Golden Brown in my head (and on heavy rotation in the CD player/IPOD) for what seems like a month now!!??

I find myself whistling the song and constantly humming it.

I don't know if it's the sad-clown merry-go-round keyboards or the ethereal vocals but I can't get enough.

um, help??

btw, I saw Toronto-girl Laura Barrett perform. If you...

How impressive that you were able to resist the call of the crisp. I could not.
Could you be convinced to share the recipe?
kaffeine:
I thought the Plateau-phonies were doing coke this year. Oh, and Golden Brown is awesome; you should sing it out loud.
