I'm going to pick up my mom at the hospital today.

After major surgery to repair her leg, hundreds of hours of physiotherapy and 2 and a half months in the hospital, she's being let out.

She'll be walking with a cane for another 6 months but doctors says she'll probably recover completely.

Still no word on what happened to the dude that hit her.
psychemoon:
she must be so happy to be getting out of the hospital! it's good to hear she'll recover well.

Well, I'd like to welcome myself back.

My computer "blew up" on Saturday and I was told it would take at least a week to fix but apparently it wasn't as bad as the tech thought.

I lost some data but nothing major.

On a totally unrelated matter, I have re-developped a fondness for the Electric Light Orchestra.

How does that happen?

So, Arcade Fire was good last night.

The band was obviously tired from its trek in Britain but you could tell they were happy to be home.

Most of the show was devoted to songs from the upcoming album, Neon Bible, but they didn't disappoint by throwing in fan favorites like Haiti and Rebellion.

I was happy I got the opportunity to go but I...

I miss being able to afford to see shows.
On that note, I'm off to look for minimum-wage chump work...

Still feeling a bit nauseous but I was able to keep some solid food down today.

On a brighter note, I will be seeing the overhyped Arcade Fire tomorrow at the Ukrainian Federation Hall.

They're a fine band but this frenzy surrounding them is just plain odd to me especially if you consider they were playing dingy lofts and backyard parties a mere 2 years...

I took four days off work to relax and I've now spent 2 and a half of those days with the stomach flu.

Fuck this.

If there was ever any doubt, let me put this issue to rest:

Stomach flu sucks.

Could someone please put me out of my misery?!

Three words: Giant. Fucking. Q.
Nothing like a NyQuil coma to help ease the suffering of sickness.
Then again, if you're not able to keep anything down... puke
(sorry, had to)

This is what's planned for tonight:

Caribbean-spiced roasted cornish hen
Garlic-Dijon-Parmesan smashed potatoes
Asparagus

Strawberries and blackberries for dessert along with an espresso.

Then I'm off to Salla Rossa to see the Essex Green and Camera Obscura.

That's my evening, tell me about yours.

Ugh. No makeouts. Sad movie. I don't think he likes me. I might just be paranoid, but, bleh. Unhappyface.

You win: the "Blue Train" picture stays.
kaffeine:
Because I am an awkward, shy, dorky girl who makes cute boys uncomfortable. Poop.

Alas, my theories are dull, given my philosophy of dreams in general. Basically, I think it means that I'm eager to hang out with you, but feel apprehensive, since I know you through writing and one photograph only.

(And in my dream you looked exactly as you do in your profile pic, only you were wearing the cowboy shirt XO had on during our most recent date. Read whatever you like into that. Also, you laughed at me mockingly when I asked you to take the glasses off. I think we were at Chenoy's.)
kaffeine:
Seriously - Chenoys?! I haven't been there in ages, but when I lived in the WasteLand and worked late at bars and cafes, it was the only place to get a full meal after work which wasn't McDonald's.

I was lucky the first time I met an internet friend; it turned out she was already a close friend of a close friend, and so we hit it off like a house on fire. But yeah, I've done the awkward coffee thing before, and would again, because it usually turns out to be cool.

I've got a couple of pretty rad cowboy shirts myself. smile

Coles Cormer

Hold back the night from us,
Cherish the light for us,
Don't let the shadows hold back the dawn.

Cold city lights glowing,
The traffic of life is flowing,
Out over the rivers and on into dark.

I'm going down town where there's music,
I'm going where voices fill the air,
Maybe there's someone waiting for me
With a smile and a flower...

Guess what? I want to hear it.
So, why the hell haven't we done that CD exchange yet? We should totally have coffee, next week some time.

ohemgeetapes!
I have tape players! I don't mind swinging by your place, but getting a tape would be awesome, as well! Yay tapes!
I've ended every single one of these sentences with an exclamation point!
By the way, I had a dream last night that I was eating at restaurant with you, and you refused to take the sunglasses off. (!)
