Short of something to do? Make your own dalek



You will need:
Compost bin
Sink plunger
Broom handle
Light bulb
Polystyrene balls
Pipe cleaners
Tin foil
Wire mesh
An adult for the tricky bits!

The method:

First cut the polystyrene balls in half and glue them to the base of the recycle bin. Next, get an adult to cut two holes in the body of the recycle bin and a third hole in the lid.

Take the broom handle and cut it into three unequal pieces, again you may need an adult to help with this. Take the longest piece using tape stick the sink plunger to the broom handle. Next cover both pieces with silver foil. Now stick the whole piece into one of the holes.

To make the second weapon take the smaller piece of the broom stick and cover it with silver foil. Now glue the pipe cleaners to it and stick it in the second hole.

Take the lid off the recycle bin. Take the mesh and ask an adult to cut it to shape. The mesh will need to hang over the top of the bin. Take a second piece of mesh and roll it into a circular piece big enough to fit the top of the bin. Now get an adult to help you stick it together. Place the circular piece of mesh onto the top of the recycle bin.

To make the eye, take the smallest piece of broom handle and tape the light bulb to the broom handle. Use a felt tip colour in the front of the light bulb to create the eye. When you have done this, stick the whole unit into the hole in the lid.

Place the lid on top of the mesh and you have your Dalek.
