Went to see Belle & Sabastian at the XFM freebie in Islington last night; it's a great place to see bands because it's tiny, far too hot and there are bars along both walls (and cheap Jamesons too).

I've never seen B&S live before; I'd never really seen any pics of the band either - there were hundreds of 'em (ok, slight overkill - about ten) but they played a blinder. In an age full of sythesised strings and horns, everything was live, with various bods switching around instruments through out.

I was totally sold by a 'Boy With The Arab Strap'/'I'm A Cuckoo' double whammy midset.

They are playing outdoor shows at Somerset House in July. It's a wonderful place to see bands so I heartily recommend it. (I saw Orbital there a couple of years back; wowzer!)

Ah summer is truly here; I've spent the past few days when not working walking around the local parks and woodland and sitting in beer gardens watching the world go by. Bliss!
