So yes... Hong Kong. I had a fantastic time; quite possibly the best Holiday I've ever had - managed to combine relaxing, shopping, boozin', eating and seeing some of the sights in to a roller coaster five days.
Highlights include:
1. Giant Pandas (and the small footed Otters)
2. The scale of the city - it really is like something out of Bladerunner at night with all the lights and neon hordings.
3. Shopping - cheap(ish) gadgets (I have spent the past couple of days ripping great swathes of my record collection to MP3 so I can wonder about with my new iRiver thingum - cool as fuck, sounds good and take tippy top pics too (and is about the size of a chunky lighter).
4. Shrek 2 - I *love* the first one with almost fanatical zeal, so was well chuffed to discover that it was out over there - without spoiling it for anyone, it's a toss up between Antonio Banderas and Jennifer Saunders as to who steals the show.
5. Feeling utterly safe - if you are drunk in London there is always that fear, but nothing like that in HK.
6. Karoke (sic) - Hire a room for a few quid and sing your hearts out til about 6am whilst ordering in buckets full of ice and Budweiser. I'm fairly sure I can't dance, I KNOW now I can't sing.
7. Butterflies the size of bats.
8. Friendly people.
Special mention must go to KLM airlines, who have balanced the lack of individual video screens against an almost limitless supply of red wine, Heineken and brandy

On an utterly different topic, I don't really recommend listening to The Fall's early singles at the crack of dawn on a Saturday when feeling ropey.
