It's not that I have an attitude, I just can't stand disrespect. It comes in many forms, even a lack of respect (without being stupid or intentionally difficult) annoys me to the fullest extent. I respect rank and position, but if you can't earn my respect outside of your job then I'm not going to like you as a person. It has no ill effect on working with the person, but I just put forth the enthusiasm those I work for seem to demand.
The same goes for anyone working with me. Sure I have people lower ranking than me, but I treat them the same as the guys of equal rank that I've known for years. For me, if you can't be yourself out of uniform or the work force than people aren't going to be so happy working for you when you're on duty. I put forth the best impression possible; easily approachable, quick to complete the same type of tasks I hand out to others, always willing to listen to outside advice to get the job done quickly and more efficiently.
cooperation - noun
1. an act or instance of working or acting together for a common purpose or benefit; joint action.
2. more or less active assistance from a person, organization, etc.: We sought the cooperation of various civic leaders.
3. willingness to cooperate: to indicate cooperation.
4. Economics. the combination of persons for purposes of production, purchase, or distribution for their joint benefit: producers' cooperation; consumers' cooperation.
5. Sociology. activity shared for mutual benefit.
6. Ecology. mutually beneficial interaction among organisms living in a limited area.
It just seems to me like more people should take this definition to heart.

My Brother, for instance, never had a good boss. Now that he's in charge, he doesn't know how to be friendly with his staff but still keep his authority. I'm glad that I got to work under an exceptional manager. He was (and is) my friend but, in the work environment, when he asked me to do a job - I did it.
I think disrespect for people of a lower rank than you is a more prevalent problem than the other way round, power goes to people heads.
