A bit tired to update, but I probably should. The Lilys show was great, even though I'm not overly familiar with their stuff. All 20 people who turned out for it seemed satisfied. And the guys were all really nice and humble, which I guess they'd have to be since no one really knows who they are. At any rate, they were cool, their music...

music is far from the worst thing to have going on in your life. i've been more into movies lately, but i just got a new stack of drool-worthy CDs.

Yay, it's now the weekend. I have no exciting plans, but the thrill of not going to work for two days is excitement enough.

The Minds album is great. It's on Dirtnap, same label as the Epoxies, Exploding Hearts, Briefs, Spits, etc., so it sounds like all of those other groups. It's fun, fast, and simple. They're even more fun live, though I don't think...

man, that shirt was the pimpest.
my reasoning was as follows, and was correct. everyone was going to show up wearing black head to toe. i could join the crowd or wear a slick shiny golden curtain shirt.

i got over dressing goth when i stopped being a gothdustrial dj back in 97. i did recently pick up a new slew of CDs, though. the music itself never gets old.

yea it was alot of fun.. you should have come down!

Coolness. I got my tickets for Death Cab for Cutie and Stephen Malkmus (different shows) today! I also picked up The Minds' album, and this new Hedwig tribute project called Wig in a Box. If I weren't such a lazy bastard, I'd provide you all with links to The Minds website and to Off Records. Oh, okay, here you go:

The Minds

Actually when I interviewed it was during the 'Nowhere' tour and they were still so young and sweet back then that all they did was correct me gently. "Oh, but we're not from Manchester, we're from Oxford." That type of thing. It was still embaressing none the less.
starsandsmokes:
... well, he actually doesn't dress in drag, he says gay men have that covered, but he is still a transvestite. you should have seen the two outfits he was wearing last night, it was great, and he wears them with fake breasts now as well, unlike on dress to kill or circle. he did a bit about this time one of his fake bra stuffing boobs exploded on an airplane once he went above 30,000 feet and he was covered in that goopy stuff they put inside of them, probably not very funny unless you were there, but it was nonetheless great...

p.s. love is hell is good, go get it...

Need to update. Can't look at the last entry anymore. I think I have a problem with being too sensitive, taking things too personally, etc. I'm like metaphorical fruit. I bruise easily. Anyway, enough with the "poor me" crap. Self-pity is one of those useless emotions that I try not to feel, right up there with guilt.

It's Tuesday, release day in the world of...

While Ride's Nowhere is an aboslutely brilliant lp and they were from the same era as most of the great Manchester bands, they were actually from just south of London in Oxford. *wink* Don't worry though, I made the same mistake way back then, only the more embaressing part of it was that I was interviewing them when I made the mistake.

My visit to the doctor was pretty positive and although there's no clear cut reason for what happened to me, my blood tests were fine. I'm somewhat relieved.

I try not to download albums, but it's hard when you're short on cash and need new tunes!

Neat, Echo has a new profile pic. Now all three of my favorite SGs are some shade of pink or red. How fitting for this site. biggrin

Less neat is my currently sporadic internet connection. Comcast can suck my ass if this keeps up. Let's see if I lose this entire entry. I kept trying to IM friends, but that's difficult to do with no connection....

Bizarre, I have Comcast service here on the East Coast, and not once has it faultered.

I love that so many girls have been getting new posting and profile pictures. Two of my favorites have great new ones.

If you feel you are been taken for granted, even in your own mind, it's possibly symptomatic of something larger. Either within yourself, which you noted, or maybe you are seeing warning signs of something negative before it actually occurs. I don't know about women's intuition all that well, but I do have a strong sense of self trust, and when my body tells me that somethings not right in a relationship, I know it's not lying to me.

... yeah, i'm much more for the sad bastard ryan as well. have you heard any of the unreleased stuff, (suicide handbook, 48 hours)? i have a few albums worth of unreleased stuff and it's all really good, super sad, great stuff...

Thought I should update, even though I don't have much to say. That last entry makes it seem like I'm still trapped in the undefinable bad mood, which, I'm happy to report to anyone who cares, is no longer the case. smile

It's Halloween. And Friday. Halloween + Friday = about a million parties. I think we're hitting at least one of them. I'm sort of...

Seattle new house of debauchery and pervaier *Can't Spell* of fine crafted PBR shall be provided by Kitten, JB and, Myself. It's super sweet and I know we are for sure having a New Years shindig, and most likely a few inbetween now and then. I belive we are also going to have a Christmas in January party because kitten and I weren't prepared for it this year. Because of the move.

Good to hear you're cheery (or at least not glum) again! If only the site had some life. frown

I really hate free-floating bad moods.

I've been in one of these for a few days now, and there's just something endlessly frustrating about not knowing why you're in a pissy mood. I like to be able to pin it on something, even if it's something stupid and immature. It could be a combination of elements, such as I hate my job, I'm not fond...

I know what you mean about the funk. I got it too. Hey, we've got the funk... ok that's just silliness. smile
When I get in those moods I normally clean my house up. After several hours of cleaning, while listening to some fucked up music, I'll be to tired to be in a bad mood.
Take care. wink
minimalism:
Those kind of moods are so strange. That undefinable blahness that just won't quit. It doesn't happen too often to me, but I certainly know exactly what you mean.

Going to the gym will definitely help you shake the funk, espcially if you have a walkman and some of your favorite tunes to listen to. I'm sure you'll be feeling a million times better when you get back.

I guess I should update, seeing as how it's been over a week and all. Let's see what the old brain can dredge up for interesting material....

The new Go album is good. If you like the rock, you should get it.

I think Jesse and Mike went gray on the same day. That's...okay, that's not actually interesting at all. Damn.

It got cold all...

Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, Dopey, Doc, Bashful, and, um.....fuck, what's the seventh dwarf's name? We did this mini psychology experiment in college where we asked people to name the seven dwarfs and then we tallied who was most often forgotten. It was Bashful. Who I remembered. So which one am I missing?

Heh, it was funny when people would make up dwarfs, like Sleazy and Dummy....

It's probably because, except for Doc, all the others end with a happy, dwarfish-sounding "-y." Doc is going to be remembered because, let's face it, serious people such as doctors are remembered -- and when did you ever see a dwarf physician? Another reason he would stick in peoples' minds.

As for why you forgot Sneezy, I dunno ... you might have issues with allergies, or you may have got him confused with Bashful (they dress somewhat alike), and forgot him as a substitute for forgetting Bashful. You have interesting mental habits.

Yay! I have internet at the new apartment now! love

Oh, and basic, basic cable. Seriously, it's like 15 channels, but whatever, it's the same price with the internet.

The Grandaddy/Elbow show was fucking awesome last night. We missed Starlight Mints, so I still have no clue what they sound like. I think that's the second or third time I've missed them. Gotta love those chronic...
