Death Cab, The Thermals and Ben Kweller were last night. The Thermals kicked ass, as usual, and their new stuff sounds quite promising. Neither of us can stand Ben Kweller, so we were down in the bar for his set. It was piped into the room though, so unfortunately we could still hear it. Death Cab was good, but EnergyChannel's utter lack of enthusiasm didn't... Read More
Work is over. I'm officially a lady of leisure. This could be cool and strange all at the same time. I haven't been unemployed since the couple of months after I graduated college in 2000. Luckily, my agency chose to lay me off in the beginning of the beautiful weather season.
EnergyChannel insisted that BRMC were headlining, not opening. I insisted the opposite. Since we did not care about seeing the Rapture, the answer to this question was very important. After grabbing some delicious bar food, and being antsy around him for about half an hour, we left for the show. A sign on the door at the Roseland said that... Read More
Odd weekend, in that it was a mix of socializing extremes. I was either a total hermit or a social butterfly with a bunch of you SG kids. Party on Saturday, which was tons of fun. I met a couple of out-of-towners, including Cedar and Maxx, drank a bit more than I ate, but still managed to be one of the more sober ones... Read More
It makes me sad that the new Wilco is not so good. It's actually pretty annoying on the first listen. The only song I liked was Handshake Drugs, and it's from an earlier ep they released. Sigh. Guess I should update, since we've been back from the woods for a number of days now. I think I'm experiencing cabin hangover. It's kind of like cabin fever, except that it is the desire to remain inside the cabin, and never leave. Ever.
We had a blast, needless to say. It was secluded, with a river in our backyard, a hot tub off our... Read More
I think itsx actually written in law that you cannot refuse an opportunity to work in your field and then collect unemployment. Have you figured out the health insurance thing?
I figure that since you dont know who I am, I should enlighten you.
Im Nex!
I used to be a member here, but some things happened (ooohh! and theyre such juicy gossip if you wanna hear it all.) and I left, but now Im back.
A glance at my journal at any given time will tell you all you need to know about me.
Okay. Things are looking up a bit. Thanks to everyone for the well-wishing and suggestions and everything else. I had a meeting with HR today and I can get on unemployment, so that will be a bit of a cushion for a while. Medical and dental benefits will have to go away though, as I'm not going to pay $300 a month. So I just... Read More
On a brighter note, thanks for the good wishes. Gift memberships are always a good idea for SG weddings.
