Busy weekend. My dad and stepmom (hereafter referred to as my parents, to save on typing time) came to visit the same day we started moving. So they saw the house in various stages of disarray, but never in array.
Currently, most of the boxes are unpacked in the main body of the house. The kitchen looks great, the living room is coming together, and the bedrooms, well, they're next to tackle. It's so nice being able to unpack slowly and not worry about anything. Thank you, unemployment, for the gift of free time.
The 4th was spent at the blues festival, sitting on the lawn in the sun for roughly 8 hours. Even though I slathered on SPF 30 sunblock twice, I still managed to burn my arms and odd random spots on my body. Not terribly, but enough to give me that lovely "farmer's tan" thing, since I was wearing a t-shirt and not a tank top. Oh well, the goal of remaining as white as possible is tossed out the window, but not for lack of trying.
It's always good to see my parents. They come up here, and we hang out, go to movies, and eat out a lot. If they're here for longer than a few days, I actually grow tired of eating in restaurants.
But now the kitchen is fairly empty of basic things like milk, butter, eggs, produce, etc., and I need to brave the grocery store. Ugh.
Wireless still is the shit, though. As is watching movies on my 27 inch TV from EnergyChannel's computer.
We watched "Clueless" yesterday. I have a ridiculous love for that movie, and I don't even know why. Perhaps it's because she called Radiohead "complaint rock". Gooooo, angst!

My very own piece of the 50s indeed. I'm getting increasingly excited about this possibility.
