Okay, report of night #1:

EnergyChannel insisted that BRMC were headlining, not opening. I insisted the opposite. Since we did not care about seeing the Rapture, the answer to this question was very important. After grabbing some delicious bar food, and being antsy around him for about half an hour, we left for the show. A sign on the door at the Roseland said that the show had turned into a 21 and over event. The repurcussions of this didn't really sink in until we stepped inside and I could hear BRMC playing already. The show had been moved from the theatre upstairs to the bar downstairs, due to a lack of ticket sales. Now, at this point, let me ask what is wrong with the self-respecting hipsters of Portland that they couldn't get off their asses and buy a ticket to see such a hipsteriffic double bill? I'll chalk it up to Monday.

Anyway, BRMC had been going for about 15 minutes before our arrival, but we caught most of their set. They were awesome, but since they weren't the headliner, their set was too brief. After talking with the Monqui folk, we found out that the two bands have been alternating nights, so BRMC will be headlining in Seattle tonight. Lucky Seattleite fuckers.

Despite my impending unemployment, I couldn't resist dropping $25 bucks on one of those super-soft girl sweatshirts that Classic Girl makes. I think they're like the ones sold on here, only this one's black and says BRMC on it. It's adorable. love

We then decided that The Rapture was not worth our attention, and departed for Berbati's, where we forked over 10 bucks each to get in to see Hint Hint and TV on the Radio. Man, that was the best decision I've made in awhile. Sure, it was after midnight by the time TVOTR hit the stage, and sure it was a Monday and I should have been home sleeping, but as we can see from my previous entry, sleep is something I won't be getting much of this week. They were fucking brilliant. Beautiful, moving, funky, danceable, you name it. Everyone needs to see these guys, because they are the epitome of awesome. In addition to their new album material, they had some great twists to their EP songs. Ahhhhh, I do love good shows so so so so much. love love love

We got home sometime after 2, or possibly after 3. I really shouldn't even be awake right now. I should be napping, storing energy for Air, which happens in a few short hours.

G'nite, kids. More reports to come. Oh, I took pictures at both shows, so blurry shots of bands to come as well. biggrin
