It was a good weekend. Far too short, but good nonetheless. The Notwist show on Saturday was phenomenal, even though the venue (Dante's) isn't one of my favorites. They were amazing, and I'd totally see them again. People were lined up around the block to get in, the first time I had seen such a turnout for a show at Dante's. Luckily, we had tickets, so we were able to get in the much shorter line, and snag a spot up in the front. The opening band, Themselves, were cool too. Kind of a hip hop/keyboards thing. Hard for me to describe, as I can't think of any bands to compare them to. But they were good. It's always a bonus when the opening band doesn't suck.
Notwist hit the stage in a timely fashion, and greeted the crowd in their soft German accents, then launched into their set. I had my camera, but only took one picture, as I realized I was way too close to get anything that wouldn't make the band look totally washed out. For the first half of the set, I was fixated on two things: one, the lead singer was wearing Camper shoes, which automatically made him awesome, and two, there was a piece of tape stuck to the bottom of his right shoe. Everytime he came over to play the turntable, I had this urge to reach out and rip off the tape. But I didn't want to get my fingers stepped on, so I refrained. Finally, halfway through "Neon Golden" he noticed it and ripped it off. I'm not OCD, I swear.
Afterwards, we hit a party at obelisk's house, where we saw some of the PDX crew, about half of which were beyond the early stages of drunkenness. It's always entertaining being the more sober of the crowd.
Sunday didn't exist. We slept in until 5 PM. I think I was awake for 8 hours on Sunday.
A wonderful weekend. And the unromantic socks that I got for EnergyChannel were very much appreciated. So go me.
And how was everyone else's weekend?

I think one of the bandmembers has another band which I cannot remember the name.
Never saw them perform live though...
