I've reached the point of the sickness where it just really doesn't matter anymore. So in the spirit of rejoining the rest of society, I ventured out to the mall today. No, this is not my preferred hangout spot, but I have Christmas shopping to finish (don't ask), and I figured the mall would be my one-stop shopping destination.
Sniffling my way through the stores, watching all of the other people bustling around me, I remembered when I was 12 and loved hanging out in the mall. Of course, I also loved crappy pop music and Guess jeans, so I suppose it was a natural match. The mall is one place that never changes. The mallrats always look the same. Young, following whatever's trendy, loud, and just begging to be noticed.
I feel ancient when I go to malls now, and that's just fine with me. We were all annoying preadolescents at some point, and I'm glad to be done with that phase. Now I'm a mid-twenties pseudohipster. I guess that's an improvement.
The weather channel website says it's currently 27 degrees, but it feels like 14. How do they determine the "feels like" index, anyway? 13 degrees is quite a difference.
