Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, Dopey, Doc, Bashful, and, um.....fuck, what's the seventh dwarf's name? We did this mini psychology experiment in college where we asked people to name the seven dwarfs and then we tallied who was most often forgotten. It was Bashful. Who I remembered. So which one am I missing?
Heh, it was funny when people would make up dwarfs, like Sleazy and Dummy. But they would still forget poor little Bashful. Doomed forever to a lifetime of wallflower-ism because his name doesn't rhyme like the rest and it's not a short, succinct syllable like Doc. Anyway.
Last night's show was awesome. It was my first time seeing both The Go and Guided By Voices, but I had been warned that GBV always plays for at least 3 hours. Then they do about 10 more songs in their encore. They did not disappoint. For being 46, Bob Pollard has an amazing store of energy. I think he must be sucking the bone marrow out of babies or something, because goddamn. The 18 or so beers that he consumed while on stage probably helped. I suppose it's easier to function when the term blood alcohol becomes nothing but a pair of synonyms.
The Go was also good. Not quite as kickass as I wanted them to be, and a bit on the "this sounds like a bunch of other bands" side to be salivatingly interesting, but they played loud and enjoyed themselves, and they're from Detroit, so I had to like them at least a little bit. Plus they gave me a copy of their new album which comes out today in the US. Finally. It was released in the UK months ago. So yeah, that made up for me actually having to buy a ticket to this show.
After hanging with the bands for a bit, we got home at 3:00. Let me tell you, getting up at 7:00 this morning sucked ass. But hey, I got to meet two bands and got a free CD out of it, not to mention seeing a great show, so on a scale of one to seven dwarfs, I'm at 3 - Happy, Sleepy, Dopey.
Maybe it should be naptime now.

As for why you forgot Sneezy, I dunno ... you might have issues with allergies, or you may have got him confused with Bashful (they dress somewhat alike), and forgot him as a substitute for forgetting Bashful. You have interesting mental habits.
Thank you for your thoughts.
I'll be back soon.
