For anyone who has read and enjoyed the book Way of the Peaceful Warrior by Dan Millman, I strongly suggest that you not see the movie, as it is an enormous pile of crap that only vaguely resembles the book. I know that this statement can be made for most movies based on books, but this one was exceptionally bad.

It's not even that the book is heavily plot-based, as it's always struck me as more allegorical than literal. It's not even that they thought Nick Nolte would make a good Socrates. (Nick Nolte?? Really? ) He wasn't even the worst part of the movie. You want to know the worst part? And don't worry, this in no way ruins the plot. They chopped the book in half and turned it into a fucking sports movie. Yes, that's right. Take a book about a man's journey towards...spiritual enlightenment, for lack of a better phrase, and make it all about his success in gymnastics. Boil down the multiple lessons into a couple of trite passages, and end the movie before the character learns much of anything.

Grrr. I shouldn't have watched it. I was just so curious, though. I couldn't help myself.

In other news, how about that Gonzales hearing? That was some funny shit, huh? What a jackass.
