Eureka, CA. The one on the coast. The other one is Yreka. That's in the mountains.

Greetings from the middle of my laid-back weekend. The day started off well with pilates class, where I'm getting better and sucking in that pelvic floor. A lot of plank equals sore wrists at the moment. I almost need two different mats, one for yoga and a thicker one for pilates. That's a bit ridiculous though, considering I only do each one once a week. Has anyone tried those Winsor pilates DVDs off of the infomercial? I was thinking of buying them after Christmas, but if they suck, I don't want to waste my money. EnergyChannel has also purchased a yoga mat, so he can start to gain some flexibility with me as his somewhat able-bodied guide. It will be a victory if he can sit cross-legged without pain.

I'm currently sitting on the couch, waiting for the arrival of my mechanic, who is awesome and comes to your house instead of you having to drive your car to him. I just want my car to be given a thorough tune-up in advance of our trip down to Eureka in a couple of weeks. Perhaps he can diagnose why my car has so little gusto driving up hills. I'm also debating if I should put the studded tires on for the trip. There has only been one year when I had to stay overnight in Grants Pass due to snowy roads, which is saying a lot, considering the snowy road in question was Interstate 5. I just hate to ruin the roads for no reason, though. The noise factor is another thing to consider. Not to mention the whole going to Les Schwab to wait for hours factor.

Despite the fact that I go to Eureka every Christmas, and every trip is essentially the same, I am still looking forward to it. I miss my dad, and it's always good to visit the 'ol hometown, possibly run into friends from high school, see the ocean and the redwoods again, and return to the exceedingly familiar for a few days. It makes coming home to my big little city that much better.

Christmas shopping begins tomorrow, or possibly tonight, if I get the energy. With the malls open until 10:00 every day, it makes getting a late start that much more feasible.

Yes, you know you love these mundane entries about the day-to-day happenings in my life.

Well, it helps Oregon by balancing the scales of cool, as I take off in an airplane bound for the nation's capitol. But help us get together? Nope.
