Ahhhh, the weekend. For a four day workweek, this one seemed loooong. To recap:
We spent the 4th at hypnogogic and ladybelmont's house, hanging with friends and small people (children, not midgets), and being generally in awe of how much better Washington fireworks are than Oregon fireworks. We didn't even need to go to the big Vancouver show, as the neighborhood held some great action. I think our hosts must have had a thousand dollars' worth of fireworks alone. Oh! Also there were kittens. Small ones. Cute ones. Determined to leave their bathroom prison by any means necessary.
Last night was the Lilys/Human Television/High Violets show at the Doug Fir. Prior to the show, we hosted the Lilys at our house while EnergyChannel mesmerized them with his delicious grilled burgers. Then it was off to the show. All three bands were great, Human Television shirts were purchased, backstage alcohol was consumed, and the end result was nine musicians crashing in various parts of our house. I hope they weren't too uncomfortable on our floor. It was amusing stepping around crashed out bodies this morning as I got ready for work, although the 4-5-ish hours of sleep was not nearly enough. I was particularly tickled by the sight of Kurt Heasley sprawled on the floor, a sunbeam shining brightly across his face, and him just snoring contentedly along. I should have taken pictures.
I don't envy them the drive to Sacramento today. I do hope you all make it out to see them in their various shows in California. They are awesome, and deserve your support. Thanks to all of my Portland friends for making it to the show. Even my boss was there!
Tomorrow night, Stan McMahon band at the White Eagle. You know you wanna go....

yeah, It's been a while scine I've posted anything. I wish I had planned the timeing from my last post. That would have ment that I have been aware of the passage of time. As it is, the days are streaming by.
I'm really jazzed about the expantion. Part of the Idea was spawned by all of the cool breakest place that their are in Portland. And, the absolute lack of anything like that in old town. I hope we can pull of the theme though. We're shooting for theater. Stage curtians on the walls to cut down on noise, and tie in the stage for bands, comics, poets. Get the beer and wine for the afternoon and evening. It should work. I just have to make it happen.
