Hey Kiddo!
Grim Fandango runs natively on WIn95, Win98, and WinME. If you're using WinXP (The latest version), you may have issues. Most can be solved by running the program in "Compatability Mode". Once the game is installed, it will put a shortcut icon on your desktop. Right click on the icon, go to "Properties" and the "Compatability" tab, and it will give you an option to run the game in Win95/Win98 Mode. There is also a patch available that fixes some minor bugs.

Check out GrimFandango.net... A fansite with lots of other technical help, as well as walkthroughs if you get stuck on a puzzle. You'll find links there as well to help forums, like the LucasArts one, where others have posted tips on what they did to get the game to run smoothly on WinXP if you have any issues. smile

There's a downloadable demo there as well, a good chunk of the beginning of the game. I assume if you can get THAT to run, you won't have any problem with the full game.

Good luck! biggrin

I just dug out my old copy of the game to see if it would run okay on my WinXP machine... After installing, I applied the v1.01 patch I got from LucasArts.com, and it started okay. I used the "compatability mode" for WinME too. When it started up, the intro cutscene ran fine, but once it was done, there were "artifacts", little white blobs on screen caused by a graphics problem. I went into the options menu (Which usually is acessed by the menu when you press "Esc", but I had to press "F1" instead (Go figure) to bring it up. I turned "Hardware Accelleration" to ON, and from there it ran smoothly with no errors. Try the same with the demo to see it it'll behave for you. It's a 50 MB or so download, but that's only a couple of minutes on a cable modem.
