Hey, it's time to film geek out, I got a question for nerds out there...
Of the five most influential living American filmmakers, them being Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, Francis Ford Coppola, and Brian De Palma, who would you be if you could choose?

Martin Scorsese is the voice of his generation, with the ability to tell intimate stories on a grand scale, unfortunately he has never really had a blockbuster hit, so it has taken him much longer to achieve rights that Spielberg got long ago like final cut. Steven Spielberg is the great showman, known for entertainment and spectacle, but hindered by his over sentimentality, and as a result will never be taken fully seriously. George Lucas is the sell out, who was once a very promising filmmaker but instead found a way to cash out and become not only ridiculously rich, but a pop culture icon as well. Francis Ford Coppola is the failed prodigy. In the 70's no one could touch him, and he was nearing messiah status as a filmmaker, then he flamed out spectacularly and has never fully recovered. Brian De Palma is the misunderstood artist. Perhaps the most talented of the bunch, but he has never really been appreciated critically or commercially and ends up stuck somewhere in limbo, alas, it can never be said that he made a film any way other than exactly as he saw it.

So really, as a film geek, I would like to know who you would like to model your career after if you had to. I find this to be a type of question like whether you're a Beatles person or an Elvis person. Like it should say something about yourself depending on what you choose. And don't dismiss Lucas either because you think it sounds bad. I mean, by 40 he was able to retire and basically relax the rest of his life. He can work if he wants to, or do nothing, it becomes entirely up to him.

So, go for it, all... maybe one or two of you who will answer this. Who would you be?
ooo aaa

The comparisons for this were basically just stolen from this article:

I think I would go with Spielberg because he can make serious movies with a message and then be part of a popcorn flick or a comedy, and that i more like me, seious here and there and then funny.
