Goddamn that ending to Red Dead Redemption is great.
SPOILERS! (Click to view)
It was a combination of having spent the past twenty something hours playing as John Marston, as well as the music they played that actually completely broke my heart. It's interesting cause the only knowledge I had of any Rockstar game for a while was Grand Theft Auto San Andreas, which had a wonderfully happy ending, so it was sort of a shock for me when I played GTA IV to see the much more down note ending, and now with Red Dead, it's just straight up tragic. This is all under the spoiler banner already but I'll remind you again that a spoiler is coming up. In a nutshell, John Marston dies. He gets fucked over by the government people and they completely slaughter him, but he goes out like a man. He kicks down the door where there are something like 25 people with guns pointed waiting for him, and he kills a bunch of them before finally getting gunned down. The song that plays when we see his grave site is the closest a song has ever come to actually choking me up. I dug it, great game, I'm gonna play it again, and I haven't even begun checking out the multiplayer stuff yet.
In other news it's my b-day tomorrow, and I'm gonna celebrate by, well ditching class and relaxing. Sounds like a good plan to me.
