haha, it can't always be a glamorous life... 
So, I've finally got around to yet again working little by little on my DMC. For those who don't know, John DeLorean was the god father of muscle cars back in the day with the most well known being the GTO and others as well. He decided to split off and try to make what he thought to be the "perfect" car which ended up being a stainless steel and fiber glass body with a V6 Volvo motor and gull wing doors that would become an 80's icon. I call it my domestic exotic car ;p
Now, with all this being said, I wish he would have executed the production of his cars with a bit more integrity. The car itself, is falling apart, it was put together by people who had no idea what they were doing. So much that the thing is put together as if it were a totaled car fixed at some half ass body shop, let me illustrate this...
Those, my friends, are OEM stacked washers to make the fenders fit correctly, installed on both sides straight from the factory... The entire outer body is more or less held together with rusted out Phillips screws and 8mm almost unrecognizable bolts. So unrecognizable, it was thought that the fenders were possibly riveted on.
Here is a little back story on how I came to own a DMC, This Delorean has been in my family for almost 15 years. She was my grandmothers wedding gift in which my grandmother drove once, said it was "like driving in a coffin" and never drove again. My uncle was the last to drive it. It was rumored he had damaged and totalled the engine, they parked it and it sit there for 10 years.
I first caught glimpse of the Delorean when I was around 10 years old and it was magical and I knew I wanted it from that point on. I bitched for 10 years that I wanted that car as she collected dust... I never gave up on her. Every visit to my grandparents house I would ask to go out to the shop to see it. Finally for an early 21st birthday present I was handed the keys and title and she was mine. It is speculated that she is painted red for the horrible B rated movie "Malibu Express". I can't confirm or deny this as they had no vin records for the movie.
Since it sat for 10 years, the mice made a nice home in it and managed to damage the wiring harness and fuse box. Over the last 4 years I have painstakingly unraveled and gone over every inch of wiring. Cutting, splicing, soldering, heat shrinking and wrap the entire harness as best as possible. So now it's time to clean it up and put the interior back together (eeeek!)
