Hey all. So after my latest blog entry was a success I have decided to do a series of entries pertaining to different topics each day. If I miss a day, Don't kill me. So here goes nothing.
Day One: Shitty Pet Owners.
Oh boy, where do I start? I've been working in the animal industry for about 8 years now ranging from Kennel work at veterinary hospitals to show dog grooming. In my experience, I have come across so many different people and their pets and how they were treated. Its blows my mind that someone could neglect a "pet". These are supposed family members (Hairy Ones XD) that folks adopted and took in and then proceeded to treat them like trash. If we did this to our kids, we'd be in jail.
Most recently, I've been doing more grooming than veterinary work and have come across some appalling sights. I have seen dogs and cats come in crawling with fleas and infested with ticks to dogs covered in 6 inches of matting. Matting happens when you dog brush your pet for a while and they get all tangled up and knots form.
If we (People) did not brush our hair for 4 months let alone a week.. We would be kind of gross. And then once someone complained we'd fix the problem (Hopefully). Well guess what! That adorable Bichon puppy that you spent a 1500.00 dollars on has now gone to hell in a hand basket and its not their fault but they suffer. Greeat job guys. Oh and, SHAVING YOUR DOG DOWN EVERY 6 MONTHS IS NOT PROPER PET CARE!
I'm done ranting but I'm going to end on this: Please think long and hard before you buy a puppy if you know that you don't have the time and effort to put into their care.
Okay, I'm done. (Maybe I should have picked a happier topic, eh?)
