2) Vikings were a large people, in their day. At a time when the average height of a man stood at around 5'5", the average Viking stood at nearly 5'8", and a large portion of Vikings over 6'. This helped give credibility to the idea that Vikings were savage, violent bunch (which isn't as true as people once believed).
