Another death on the highway. I had to cover a traffic fatality, which isn't normally a big deal, except that a 24 year old got thrown from her car and died on the spot. Her body was lying there right in the middle of the street for hours- all the authorities did was cover it up with a tarp after awhile. A pickup truck blew a red light and smashed into this Honda; the dead girl was the passenger and the driver needed Flight for life to take him to the hospital. Of course, the asshole at fault had no injuries whatsoever. Let me state now for the record how much I truly fucking HATE huge trucks and suvs. They have a million blind spots, and people drive then like the world owes them something. And now, one killed someone who had done nothing wrong at all. People are dying in a war about oil, and all these brats insist on driving these dangerous monstrosities like they innately deserve a huge assed car; never mind that I never see anyone hauling anything with them or even carrying more than 2 passengers. And usually I'll spot the driver on a cell phone......grrrr..... 
So on the flip side I got to cover 2 football games in Madison yesterday. It made for a 14 hour day, but the enthusiasm of the crowd and players at sporting events always rubs off on me, and I feel like a million bucks. It doesn't hurt that this is now my weekend off, so I'm gonna have a well deserved beer tonight with whomever cares to join me. Don't get me wrong I love my job for all it's numerous faults even but time awat from the paper makes me glow. Plus, I barely have time to be social anymore, between work, gallery stuff, and my baby in Chicago. It's long overdue
I feel like I am settling in a bit at long last, after over a month of stress and tears and worrying. Photography is like an infection; once you have a job like this going back to an office or service job would destroy me. I struggle like a worm on a hook but I guess i wouldn't have it any other way. I just have to keep thinking positive.
