Hiya, everyone, sorry I haven't updated in awhilebut I have been pushing through the last scraps of a busy busy schedule. This entry is gonna be a whopper, though, cuz so much has gone on so I'm gonna split it up into 2 entries. Today's is part 1.
First topic: the cave rave. Have you ever had one of those experiences that you know will be seared into your memory for the rest of your life? This was, hands down, one of the best parties I've ever been to, and I've had my share. The weekend was set up to be a Friday through Sunday thing, with music from about 8 stages going on from noon on Saturday to noon on Sunday. The main stage was in the mouth of a cave. the opening was 200 feet wide and 160 feet high, and that's just where the dj booth was. Several hundred more feet of cave wall went up and to the left and right of that, with trees surrounding the area. Once it got dark, an elaborite lightshow was projected all over the cave walls. Lazers bathed the crowd of dancers in patterns of light, while a kaliedoscope of colors and patterns and textures, ever changing, swirled over the already colorful surface of the rock walls. You could probably just stare at the cave all night if you wanted to or if you don't care to dance; it was a show in and of itsself.
The DJs were also outstanding. I am a jungle girl through and through, and was delighted to find Dieselboy, my favorite US jungle DJ, and Grooverider, my favorite UK junglist, spun back to back at the prime time of the night. The beats were frantic and the bass was thick and juicy, especially boomin out of the cave mouth. And all of the people at the party were great; the friendliness and spirit of brotherhood was something I hadn't encountered since the Rainbow Gathering. Everyone was everyone's friend.
I wound up bringing along all of this extra stuff (my friend Adam was laughing at me) like body paint and glitter and glow in the dark toys and I'm glad I did. The body paint and glitter combo looked lovely on everyone who got painted. And it was a great way to barter for water and food! At any rate, it was completely wonderful and I'm going next year for sure.
As for gallery night, all went well. I sold a lot more than I thought I would, because let's face it, people really don't buy a lot of art in Milwaukee so I am very glad I got some of my investment back. A special thanks to artman and need2xcape2 for coming- it was so good to meet you both! I'm glad you two had a good time and I wish I could have spent more time talking to you both, but it gets a little crazy trying to keep an eye out for everything and everyone. We will be talking more, for certain. At taco thusday, for certain, I know for you, artman, it is a drive and I don't know if you go to taco thursdays but we will be in touch more of course, especially for my next art adventure: the Kenosha art fair!
All you Milwaukee peeps I hope to see you at the Commodore this Thursday, and more Gallery Night stories (absinthe, anyone???) will follow in a future journal entry.

Rock On!
