My mother is always hassling me to go to Church on Sundays. I don't like Church. It's like areobics. Stand up, sit down, kneel down, geneflect, do the hokey pokey. As I was leaving on my way back from Calgary, my parents wereon ttheir way to Church. I said I would go to church when I got back to Edmonton. I didn't.

I actually went to see a play yesterday.

Espresso by Naked Soul Productions at the Jubilee.

It was fucking amazing. I'll be frank- my Edmonton theatre experience is rather limited, but has more often than not left a pretty awful taste in my mouth.
This, however, was different.

Despite the Christian (Roman Catholic) undertones, I still highly enjoyed it. It was neither preachy nor higher than thou-art, but funny, witty, sharp and most importantly, pertinent.

It could have been that I also enjoyed it for the fact it was partially inspired by biblical erotica - the Song of the Songs of Solomon. I found a copy yesterday and well...lemme tell ya that the Catholic Church sure has fig-leafed some great stuff.

Anyways, I have a review and oral presentation on this play today - wish me luck.
