I think the best advice I've got to dispense is to always go with your gut. This is also one piece of advice I never fail to second guess.
I or anyone I know has never been steered wrong by their instincts. By definition, instinct is an innate response to stimuli. It's how we've evolved. You'd think it wouldn't get much simpler than go with that which every living being has been given in order to survive. Ah, if it were only that easy, no?
Some people are able to trust their intuition right off the bat. I envy those people. For others, like me, it takes a little more work. The cerebral battle between instinct and evaluation is one that is ever waging war inside my brain. I can consider possible outcomes for days, and weeks, and months (hopefully I stop before I get to years) and I always wind up simply... well... going with my gut.
Start there. Go with your gut. It leaves you so much more time for all the other things in life that are infinitely more important than internally battling yourself.
