After a few months as a member here, I've noticed a few trends that most profiles seem to comform to. That being, a lot of people like the same few bands. Am I the only person left in the world that doesn't like any of the following bands?
* Phish
* They Might Be Giants
* Dave Matthews
* Deftones
* Radiohead
...And it's not like I don't listen to a lot of stuff. I have hundreds of CDs and over 7000 MP3s, spanning just about every genre except for improv rock, nu metal, and country music. (Yes, I even have some rap and hip-hop.)
I don't mean any offence or anything. I just don't like any of those bands -- it's nothing against you. It's just strange to see so many people into those bands, because, try as I might, I just can't see their appeal.
Phish = Too hippie/improv.
TMBG = Too comedic/uppity.
Dave Matthews = Just doesn't make me feel anything.
Deftones = I like some metal, but not this. What I have heard of the Deftones has been mostly indistinguishable from other nu metal I've heard, which itself is indistinguishable from other nu metal. At least to me.
Radiohead = I've tried, really tried, to get into Radiohead. But they just can't hold my interest. I did like Thom Yorke's work on the Velvet Goldmine soundtrack, though.

Can't stand either of them just because of their bland mediocrity. Deftones, not really into because yes, all the nu metal is indistinguishable from all the other nu metal, but I think people like them because they were the first of the nu metal breed and everyone else is sort of copying them.
Radiohead I never used to like, but the 'Kid A' and 'Amnesiac' albums are brilliant works of art, production and technology, and funny enough, most true old Radiohead fans don't like those two albums because they're not typical Radiohead!
And hey, thanks for joining my group "Living With Robots"!
