I'm OK, finally.

I left the office yesterday afternoon to try to find a way out of the city. US 90 was still open, so I crossed to the West Bank and drove 200 miles west to Lafayette, where I could pick up I-10 east and then I-55 north. I'm in Spring Hill, Tennessee now, at my parents' house.

The drive here was crazy. All...

This is so not fun.

I'm stuck at work. I'm in the build room on the 10th floor of Poydras Center. There is a lot of debris on the street below, from building materials to road signs to newspaper boxes. The building sways now and then, and the floor-to-ceiling windows push in and out with the wind. There is no power in the building; our...

Things have been better since my last entry...

Got a new tire on my car to replace the flat one. Managed to get Jena to and from the vet with not so many problems this time. Got my legs waxed at Belladonna. Been sleeping great lately.

Then two sets in one day by the dreeeeeeeamy Sophie. SQUEE! biggrin

And now this: Hurrican Katrina. There's...

This has been, without a doubt, one of the most awful weeks I've had in a while, due to a large combination of small problems.

My car got a flat tire on Friday last week, but at the time I was unable to pay for a replacement. I'm still unable; I have to wait until I get paid tomorrow. I've been six shades of fucking...

Took way way too many sedatives yesterday... and didn't fall asleep. Ugh. So I was in a drugged-out haze all damn day. Had to call in sick to work, too. Shit. Still haven't slept, but I'm working on getting there now.

Meanwhile, there's a new kitty living in my apartment! Her name is Jena, because she was found on Jena Street in uptown New...

At this very moment:

I'm drinking Abita Purple Haze by the bottle, waiting for 3mg Xanax and 9mg Lunesta to kick in, while smoking the last of my Djarum Blacks (last for now, at least)..

Sleep. Mmmmm. I wish I could achieve it without sedatives.

I turned 29 last week. I don't feel any older, though. Time is, after all, a human invention, so there...

15mg Lunesta/(es)zopiclone (I'm out of Ambien/zolpidem)
4mg Xanax/alprazolam
9mg Melatonin
12oz of Rolling Rock
3 or 4 Djarum Blacks

Somebody aught to make chemically-assisted sleep an Olympic event. I'd get the gold, no doubt.
ondyne:
yay! I'd get silver no doubt!

I've been meaning to ask you, I can't remember if those Eddie Izzard dvds are burned or if I need to get them back to you. smile

Yesterday after work:

• Made an appointment with Dr. Jamie Buth, for purposes of hormone replacement therapy. 10:00am on Monday.
• Made an appointment with State Farm's life insurance medical thingie for a physical. 8:00am Tuesday.
• Made an appointment with Belladonna to have my legs waxed. 9:00am on August 26.
• Called around checking prices for a trachea shave, which is apparently very expensive....

I am, for whatever inexplicable reason, feeling overwhelmingly sad tonight. I can't figure out why -- I mean, I'm on antidepressants to prevent this from happening.

Maybe I just miss Molly (which I most definitely do), or maybe the antidepressant is starting to plateau after two years. This is the kind of depression that I started taking pills to deal with in the first place;...

If I ever have to sit in an insurance office for two hours reconfiguring my policy from another state again, it'll be too fucking soon. mad

My premium went up by $250, too, because I no longer live in a rural area (like I did in Tennessee).

Getting my face lasered will cost me about $1700. Time to start saving.

I'm sorry I haven't been too...

I moved from Texas to Maryland, and my car insurance jumped by $300 dollars for a 6-month period. WTF?

I was thinking about this last night.. no insurance company has ever paid more than $4000 in repairs to my car (5 wrecks, none my fault)... yet I spend $2000 a year on insurance. Wouldn't it be more cost-efficient for me to just wing it and deal with a wreck when it happens? The only thing that keeps me from canceling my policy is the fear that I will accidentally drive into a Lexus or something and end up owing $10,000 because I plowed into some idiot who decided to throw away money on a fancy, overpriced car.

Anyway.... confused

I'm thinking of going on hormones again. I'll be going back into therapy soon to work out whether I should or shouldn't.

I miss the whole thing, especially how estrogen made me feel. And I gave it up for the worst reason possible — for someone else's sake.

Regardless of whether I start HRT again, I think I'm going to start laser hair removal again,...

I just returned from a 4-day gathering in Columbus, Ohio, where much barbequing was done. I was one of 5 vegetarians there (out of 60 people), but all the carnivore cooks took extra care to make sure the veggie burgers and tofu hotdogs weren't cooked on the same surfaces, or even with the same utensils, as the meat. Jeebus bless em. smile I tried absinthe (the...
