Six hours of ISP downtime tonight. Rather, six *more*.

Because of that I now have to work six hours over the weekend to make up for it.

Fucken fuck.

Just in case you were unaware, keep in mind that charter.net fucking sucks, especially when you go shopping for cable internet providers.

The kicker is that charter.net is the only high-speed (ha!) provider 'round these parts....

I really, really, really...

Don't want to work tonight. Or ever. Work is for sucks. I'm tired of being a suck.

Thanks man, yeah, you should check it out. We've got Yo La Tengo, Sleater-Kinney, Mooney Suzuki, Supergrass, just to name a few.

I love Ride btw. "Vapour Trail" is one of my all time favorite songs.

After a few months as a member here, I've noticed a few trends that most profiles seem to comform to. That being, a lot of people like the same few bands. Am I the only person left in the world that doesn't like any of the following bands?

* Phish
* They Might Be Giants
* Dave Matthews
* Deftones
* Radiohead

...And it's not...

You've seen Phish and Dave Mathews in profiles on this site? You must be looking at the wrong profiles! wink

Can't stand either of them just because of their bland mediocrity. Deftones, not really into because yes, all the nu metal is indistinguishable from all the other nu metal, but I think people like them because they were the first of the nu metal breed and everyone else is sort of copying them.

Radiohead I never used to like, but the 'Kid A' and 'Amnesiac' albums are brilliant works of art, production and technology, and funny enough, most true old Radiohead fans don't like those two albums because they're not typical Radiohead!

And hey, thanks for joining my group "Living With Robots"!

I have a few musical guilty pleasures. One of them is Pink. Yes, I actually like her music. But you know, a lot of her songs would be a lot better if her record label didn't censor out the word "fuck" from them.

The best example right now? The title track from "Can't Take Me Home" --

Can't take me home to mama
cuz she...

check monster all the time - nothing much in pdx.

the local paper is much better, but still doesn't help much.

Nothing wrong with Pink.

Ranier Wolfcastle is the man.

And CDC came out with an updated, Win98 ready version of Back Orifice in 2000, actively trying to sell it as a remote desktop client for companies. It was fun to play with and pretty intuitive. ::sigh:: I miss that program. (edit: and I'd be all about it if it didn't black flag with just about every anti-virus program ever made since)

Giving up caffeine is going surpringly well. No headaches yet, and it's been about 30 hours without any, except for a tiny infusion in the form of one cup of Lady Grey this morning.

I must give a shout out to LE for the tea + lots of water suggestion, which has been helping a lot.

I am hating the users of KaZaA right now....

I'm giving up caffeine and sleeping pills as of today. I want to have real dreams again and not be so damn shaky all the time. Here's hoping I won't have more mind-splitting headaches from caffeine withdrawl like I did last time I tried this.

I want to touch somebody, for some reason. Just a touch; a shoulder or a knuckle or a clavicle. I'm...

Just to put it in writing (as though it hasn't been put into writing before now), but "Small Change" is the best Tom Waits album ever.

That is all.

i often hope that i am a synaesthete, but i'm never sure. it's so hard to draw the line between actually seeing a sound or touching a taste and just thinking that it should happen.. but yes - it's my aspiration.

I know you've got to send it to get it, but still, I've had only like two personal emails in the past six months, not counting comments posted to my blog and the emails movabletype sends when someone comments on an entry. I guess this means that I am a dork, but I think everybody knew that already, right?

Elektra and Nala should do a...

Ever hear certain songs now and then and not think much of them, and then one day out of the blue, those same songs start to really affect you?

I'm going through that right now with Ani DiFranco. Particularly these songs: School Night, Hello Birmingham, Light of Some Kind, Out of Habit, and a whole slew of others.

It's strange how that happens. Has that...
