Situations like this are always tough. But I think you are handling it well, reflecting on what they taught you and how they positively influenced your development. I think about it like this, when you remember them, from smelling a barbecue, taking a record out of the case, or choosing Pepsi instead of Coke, that is how they live on in this world.

The Grand Canyon is plenty exciting.  Enjoy all the gorgeous scenery.  I know very little about Joshua Tree actually.  I just know it was the name of a U2 album (ha ha)

@creamcuffs I don't know too much about Joshua Tree either other than the U2 album as well.. but is U2 will name their album after the place then it must be nice, right? haha I wanted to try Mojave but more people suggested Joshua Tree so that's how I made my decision.
