I cant.

Its a two word phrase that is used on almost a daily basis by a lot of people. It gets us out of having to do things, it tells others that we are incapable and it describes our own lack of motivation. I've found that for the last few years I've been living with a "I can't" attitude and it sucks trying to change that. Let me give you a great example.

For the past few months I've been trying to prepare myself for Basic Training coming up in about 6 weeks. So this means that I have to do push-ups, sit-ups and run in order to be better prepared for when this comes otherwise its going to be all the more tough to do when I get there. Now I'm by no means fat or completely out of shape, but changing my diet, getting on a normal sleep schedule and doing these basic exercise necessities is tough to do when you have a "I can't" attitude. I notice it especially when I'm about to finish a run or I'm on the last set of three doing situps. That tiny little voice in the back of my mind whispering "you can't do it".. "you won't be able to do it" It's hard to ignore that voice. It's hard to shout back "yes I can!"

It's something I've had to really mentally train myself to do and it is getting better. Having so much self-doubt in the past can really kick your ass. But that was a main reason why I joined the service was because I needed a kick in my ass in order to change my defeatist attitude. I'm really just sick of it pulling me down lol

I can. It tells people you are willing to help, that you are able, and that you have the motivation to finish what you started. I know this all sounds very general but you would be surprised how often you either hear yourself or think the words "I can't."

Just a little motivational speech for this sunday afternoon smile
