A day off... joy.

I woke up this morning at 8:30 after going to bed at midnight last night. It was heaven. I used to sleep in all the time because I am a night person, but my promotion forces me to be at work everyday at 6am, so my patterns have changed quite a bit.

Beyond my new job nothing really has changed. I had a good idea a couple of weeks ago while I was out drinking (some of the best brainstorming sessions I've had in my entire life have involved a crowded bar and a drink in my hand). I'm a huge comic book fan; have been for years. Although my loyalties have shifted from Marvel to DC in the past months (death of Cap, retconning Spiderman/Mary Jane, etc). I'm sure most of you could care less about that but its who I am.

So anyways, I was thinking that the biggest aspect to any superhero is a dual identity. Clark Kent / Kal' El (Superman) , Bruce Wayne / Batman, Peter Parker / Spiderman. People themselves have dual identities. Society has made that possible with the internet. You can be anyone you want to on here. Even beyond the internet, people can sometimes separate themselves between groups of friends or different environments they are exposed to on a regular basis. Work Marcus and Play Marcus could be two totally different things. At the core its the same person but what the world sees from each is very different. I've been trying to chisel away at this raw idea to get something a little more polished. Essentially I was going to write this as a comedy (as a screenplay). But the more I thought about it, I don't need to write another Seth Rogen knock off. I'd rather do something a little more unique, a little less contrived and just make it something that is me. Something that no one else on this little green/blue ball could come up with in a lifetime. Will I actually go through and complete this project? Who knows. I usually have a bunch of ideas for projects that never really pan out. I'd say in a given day I have at least three really good ideas that I jot down for further analysis later, but usually those pieces of paper become fallen soldiers, laying in the wayside. Memorials of a person I once was, driven, determined and accomplished. Now I feel like a retired champion trying to come out of hiding and do something once again. It's tough to get back up once you've been knocked down so many times.

A day off... so much time to do absolutely nothing. Thats what days off are.

dryad:
that's exactly how I am with my days off. I had months of unemployment and I was like "I should write a book with all this time" but of course I did not.
