This christmas week has been very interesting and unique for me. I spent it alone; in a very small city where half of the population is college students who disembarked for home this week, thus leaving me here. In a building of a hundred people I was the only one around for Christmas. It was nice, yet I felt myself lacking something... family, friends, fellowship.....

This morning I awoke to a freezing chill creeping up my leg and spine, sobering me awake from last night's outting to my favorite bar, which was completely dead for a Tuesday night. I sat there; motionless, only moving to pick up the cold, frothy beer in my hand and take a sweet drink, hoping that it would do something for my loneliness. A terrible...

You said a lot of things in this entry that most people are afraid to admit. I fully respect you for that and have to admit that I basically do the same, though would rarely admit it. kiss

Yesterday.. was my birthday. The big two-three. I spent it in the most unique way possible: in Canada. You may wonder how different my birthday could be in Canada but it was. For the first part of the day MK and I hung out around her place having a nice brunch consisting of eggs and cheese over toasted bagels which most definitely hit the spot....

I found my transition to 23 much more significant than that to 21 (due mostly to the anti-climax factor - here we can drink etc at 18, so 21 doesnt mean that much), but once I turned 24, I felt old (mid 20s - eek!) so enjoy the last year of your early 20s as well as you can biggrin kiss

I was playing my Weakerthans LP and looking at the lyrics sheet.
This song reminded me of our little venture. It's pretty uncanny actually.

SPOILERS! (Click to view)

The Weakerthans - Uncorrected Proofs.

The mirrors and the unacknowledged knots
Dial tones and license plates,
and words you didn't choose.
Everything the day's too small to hold,
spills onto the dusk,
and shortens the evening's feuds.
So you fumble for a voice,
and sing happy birthday.

Read it to yourself *again;
stories always end the same.
He can't stay but she won't run;
the fear is where they're calling from.

Stunts the blood from countless tiny cuts,
but we're all out of bandages.
The heater's rattle taunt.
Sifting through translucent shards of glass,
looking for the filament,
that lit the life you want.
So you stumble for the phone,
grasp with chord and you pull.

Will your leadership complain,
stories always end the same.
She can't stay but he won't run;
the fear is where they're calling from.

Afraid is where you're calling from.

Afraid is where we lived for far too long.

If you want it hot off the ripping press let me know. I transferred it from my record player today, so there's a sexy vinyl crackle. smile

Monday morning has come. For those of you keeping up with the Atti chronicles, last time I was about ready to leave for Canada and suffice it to say I made it one piece. It took me about 10 1/2 hours to make the drive. If it had not have been for getting stopped by Immigration at the border (ready more below) I would have...

I find myself laying in bed on this cold Saturday night, looking out the window at the snow falling so gently against the stary backdrop of the Iowa sky. All the while a flurry of thoughts and emotions are racing through my head so fast that I barely have enough breath to stop and ponder what imaginings I come up with. Needless to say that...

I was inspired to write this after reading my muse's (ahem) latest blog entry. This morning (at 3am) when i was driving to the grocery store, I heard another song by Sean Kingston. And like many other songs that are in his genre, it starts out with some guy in the background going "Sean Kingston" really loud and rhythmic like. I thought to myself afterwards,...

HURRAH for the randominity (yes, it's a word - ever hear of neologism?) biggrin I too have a very "white" name, that'd make a laughing stock of any potential RnB career I might (HA!) want to pursue, but that's ok, seeing as Im an actress/model not a "singer". I could steal part of my ex's name an be J-Frizz except that my hair is naturally straight and frizz-free surreal
All this talk of snow amuses me...I live in NZ, so it's coming into summer here, and it's quite novel to hear people talking about snow, or the lack thereof, when over here we're complaining about the lack of sunshine tongue

Wow, it's been almost three months since I've been a member of this commnity and I haven't posted a blog yet. Hmm, maybe it's because I haven't had much to ramble on about in the last few months... that or I just haven't felt like displaying it for the world to dissect, ridicule or judge me for. I've had enough of that lately and I...

I really enjoyed reading this and...thinking.

p.s. is is too stupid for me to put "I loved it!" as a comment for a journal entry? yeah, probably.
