Well, I went to the dentist today, and that was fun. You know you're in for trouble when the dentist describes one of your teeth as "blown out," and talks about how removing another of them will require taking out a bit of bone along with the tooth. 
So anyway, we set a date for the wisdom teeth to be removed. All four of them. 
Next Thursday, I will have an IV hooked to my arm, which will drip some substance into my veins that will, for a brief interval, take me to a happy place where pain is but a myth. Shortly thereafter, I will be transported back from this blissful abode to a somewhat less happy place where solid food is but a myth, a place where I will, I have been told, be staying for at least a few days.
Somebody, somewhere, please tell me this isn't going to end badly.
