yay! new laptop!
since i moved into my new place at the beginning of april i've been using a broken desk that's managing to stay together. it hasn't been stable, i just never lean on it. anyways, another issue with desk has been the height... it's uncommon. the chair i have (no arm rests) sorta fits the desk, but not really and my forearms have been getting sore through out the day for the last few months.
i was looking at desks the last few days, and was gonna go pick one up today... and then i got high (yay vape!) and decided to get .mkv files playing in media center (vista). it turned out to be pretty easy, just needed to install 2 diff filters and do a little reg edit to add the file extensions.
then i noticed this rather pimp compaq on sale ... core 2 duo @ 2ghz with 3gb ram @ 250gb hdd for a really really nice price. so nice in fact that it was around the cost of a new desk, chair (needed) and .mkv playback device .. which i wanted to finish off my cable-free theatre.
so... i picked up my comp and brought it to my receiver and plugged it in with a dvi/hdmi cable. i had a picture. since it already did my tv, having it do my movies just made sense. i went and got the laptop.
now i'm watching 1080p .mkv files on my projector.
nerding out while the girlfriend is away.
