My weekend has certainly been interesting. I didn't read fun books, as planned, but I did do other fun things.
Friday night, I spent a while chatting with igrokme and paganconspiracy at Town Hall (a bar) and then Plato's Diner. It was good and interesting.
Last night, I went to a shadow cast performance thingy of <i>The Rocky Horror Picture Show</i> for the first time....

I'm at this point where most of my friends have decided that they don't like other friends of mine, and it's all messy and junk. It wouldn't bother me as much if all of them didn't feel the need to give me advice about it.
Add to that the whole continuing debate about whether or not I'm bi, or datable at all, and I think...

I'm sending a message to the SG staff to ask about fixing up the site. I'm not dong a redesign, just improving the current one and the code behind it.
My major goals, so far:
*Correct handling of special characters, particularly backslashes
*Improve the damn text entry stuff so it removes HTML the first go-around or not at all, etc.
-Support more markup
-Possibly add...

Add threading (if you reply to someone you'll vreate a thread. This should encourage conversations)
*Add some sort of comment notification (e-mails? recent comments page?)
*Clean up the comment/discussion interface (put edit and reply in consistently?)"

Threads as in "threads of conversation." when you reply to someone, your repply appears indented to set it apart from the main thread.
The idea of comment notification is basically to let you know whenever someone replies to a post or comment of yours. This isn't such a big deal with journal entries (there's the comment counter), but as it stands it's hard to keep track of topics in the groups and forums.
About the interface stuff ... when you want to edit a journal entry, you have to go to the update page. But if you want to edit a comment, it's right there in the upper right hand corner. I reply link is only available in the forums and groups. This stuff should be consistent.

I posted some photos of me self to the pics section (folder "nekkid"). I'm not much of a fan because 1) I took the photos myself and 2) well, it's myself, ya know. Anywho .... enjoy?

An outline of my day:
-Tested out RXTX (serial port support for java). It works, but I couldn\u2019t get to the RFID reader/writer I'm supposed to be working with.
-Submitted another ebuild.
-Listed my iPod for sale.
-Wrote an assload of (untested) code for the filesharing plugin. All the junk dealing with mapping virtual directories to actual ones (and listing their contents) is...

Playing with leather wrist cuffs really makes me want to get back to leatherworking. It's been far too long since I last tooled and dyed ...
Notes from my desktop:
I should tackle the clone story in a manner similar to octavia butler handled her incest story. Develop the characters in a conversation between them, like moving into their new apartment. Possibly. The problem is that we need to create tension. this is a major advantage of taking a flashback approach.
GREAT IDEA: Tell it from the perspective of their children....

I've spent this last weekend working on the Gaim filesharing plugin. The API is ... unwieldy and not well documented, but I managed to write an echo server (just sends back whatever you type).

jennrose:

Hey, I'm just testing out this thing. I probably won't post here much. My real blog is my LiveJournal.
For the record, Erin is hot.

You hadn't seen 'The Rocky Horror Picture Show' yet?

at least that's been rectified.
