Holy Shit! I had no idea its been this long since I've done an update!

Well, if you read my last blog you might have been able to surmise that I have landed in Korea. I've been here for a little over a month now. I'm in a very small town in an remote part of the country. I love it. Everyone is so friendly and life is very simple. Its a nice contrast to how things were in Montreal when I left.

On the downside, my social life is non-existent. I'm the only non-Korean in the area, and one of a handful of people who speak and degree of English. The huge cultural divide is alienating to say the least, but its still exciting and I'm enjoying it.

Once I get a camera I can give a better account about what its like here. I'm pretty sure most people don't experience this country the way I am, as I am quite far off the beaten path.

Work is challenging. The kids are great, but the learning environment is awful. Kids don't even come prepared to write in the classes, so I usually have to provide things like pens and paper. They're so self conscious that they don't want to say anything in front of their peers, or do anything to risk being singled out making speaking like pulling teeth. Any kind of progress will be a huge obstacle, but I think I can do it. I hope so anyway. I didn't think I'd care as much as I do about the kids well being. Fuck, I'm turning into some kind of sissy.

Other than that, I can't wait to explore more of the country. Now that the weather is improving, things will be more fun!
