the metric show was fucking BRILLIANT! the kind of gig that crackles with so much energy it makes you think you never need to see another gig again.
they played a ton of stuff from their new cd (out next week) and of course, the old favorites. for their encore, they did "hustle rose," which segued into a 15 minute long rendition of "dead disco", which turned briefly into "we don't need no education" (because it seems to match the chords, as they discovered last night in vancouver)...and then a finale where emily haines hurled herself out into a sea of waiting arms. oof, so old skool. she's such a rock star, too, with her jerky dance moves and jumps, and mischievous facial expressions.
