oof. i've gone out every night for the last six nights. and now, on canada day, when i should *really* be out with friends eating a big slab of charred, inexpertly grilled meat stuffed into a bun and washed down with cheap beer, i'm staying home to relax with Gus the cat. i'll open up a can of Salmon Feast for him (he usually gets dry food, but hey, it's a special day), get a bento box for me, and celebrate at home. happy canada day, everybody.

...ok, never mind. i'm making this up...the part where it's all peaceful and relaxing anyway. in fact it's rarely peaceful here... my cat is a big fucking freak and is constantly terrorizing me. i can't give him as much attention as he needs and he will destroy everything (including my leg) until i open a door or give him more food or play yet another round of "fetch" or "tag."

so the cat is in for a big surprise this week. after much thought, i've decided to get a second cat! in hopes that they will keep each other amused. i'm very nervous about this, but my friend sheri's cat needs a home and i needed a new plan. this cat doesn't even have a name yet. like holly golightly's cat in Breakfast at Tiffany's, it's just called "cat." i hope they don't become partners in crime.
