nothing too exciting is happening here...it's the usual winter doldrums.
but a bunch of us went skating in the park the other night and despite not having skated in years, it felt almost magical. we wobbled around the lake, hiding in the shadows of the pine trees and gliding around the little islands. it was very quiet, with only the sounds of us giggling and the blades on the ice.
we were rather proud to have actually done something wintery, like true alberta girls. we followed up with pizza and wine and thompson twins on the jukebox and it was a really good night.
saturday, i went to see the Murnau film Sunrise, a silent film from 1927. the acting, lighting, pacing were all good, and i LOVED that this was actually filmed in the 20s, but the schizophrenic plot gave me whiplash. sort of a mix of Fatal Attraction, Breakfast at Tiffany's, and Titanic. in that order.
