i had a great b-girl moment the other day.
it was the second breakdancing class of the year, and a third of the class had already dropped out. there were 10 of us lefthalf guys, half girls. during a water break, two more girls disappeared, unable to keep up.
"swerve" led us through a routine with some toprock, some simple threading, a sort of scissor kick, a spin around on the floor, and a hop to standing position. i nailed it easily and leapt up.
the guys were looking over and grinning.
"she's good!"
"do that again!"
"yeah, show us how you did that!"
aw, shucks, i thought, blushing mightily. later at the water fountain though, i was busted.
cute scruffy guy: hey, you really have those moves down!
me: ummmm, yeah, actually...i've taken the class before. but, uhhhh, that was a new routine! i hadn't done that one before. oh yeah, and, ummm, i've done some other dance...modern, ballet, ummm yeah...
dang. i should've let them believe i was just *that good*.
