Well, from west to east.... Bakersfield, LA, Santa Monica, some more California coast towns, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas - actually, I'd just like to travel all over America. I'd love to go on a road trip vacation, but at the same time I'd love to book a spa resort vacation, or a train trip vacation.

yeah i know - i haven't seen it for less than £30 in London yet... i'm thinking of ordering it direct from amazon.co.jp if the shipping isn't too bad

a couple of days ago, i received an e-mail in german. i brought it to my friend iris to see if it was spam. but, no! some random german woman wrote (to a friend with a similar e-mail, no doubt) to see how i was doing and tell me she missed me. she even sent her cell phone number.

i've got a new karaoke song to learn!

. . .

Of all the boys I've known, and I've known some
Until I first met you, I was lonesome
And when you came in sight, dear, my heart grew light
And this old world seemed new to me

You're really swell, I have to admit you
Deserve expressions that really fit you
And so I've...

That sucks that a passport held you back from going!! Coachella was definitely all I'd hoped for and then some. It was the festival experience I'd always been looking for. I think next time, flying down and staying in a hotel is in order, though.

once again, i apologize for being so late in replying to you. me=dumb.

maybe one day i'll get a vacation, and i'll visit your magical land. my usual coffee order is pretty easy, too, so the canadian baristas won't give me a scowl.

Thanks!

well, my cooking class is a bit of a wash so far. i mean, i guess it IS called Basic Cooking, which means we learned how to boil eggs, cut up salad greens (i thought it came in a bag??), and bake cookies. sigh.

for the cookie-making, i got paired with a 40-something, bewildered-looking guy named neil. "wow," said neil as he jabbed futilely at...

That's sort of like J signing up for the beginning marathon training group, even though she's been doing local runs (only one actual marathon) for a few years and has placed first in her age group before. She found out that they go too slow for her, so she is moving up to the intermediate group.

i went to my first chinese opera last week.

the audience was very unlike a western audience and more like what i'd expect to see at a hindi film. people chatted throughout the performance, elderly folks kept getting up to go to the bathroom (accompanied by 2 or 3 relatives, of course, forcing entire rows of people to stand up to let them through), and...

nice to see you back, aster dear.

i know the choruses to a couple of japanese pop songs, but that's it. this was, i'm fairly certain, not japanese. wrong phonemes.

wait, is phoneme a word, or did i just make that up?

so, "someone" is back from new zealand. and as amazing as ever. but, we seem to have gone from parting hugs to parting waves and a parting pat on the shoulder. i am, as you might imagine, utterly confused by the whole thing. i've been polling all my female friends for advice, but they seem as stumped as i.

i went to a party and art auction the other night for valentine's day. the absolute weirdest moment: a happy drunk guy was milling around incoherently rambling to people and giving them the creeps. he was clearly high on life...or on something. when he asked me to dance, i politely declined, but the thing was, i knew him from someplace. he looked really familiar. i...

I have such a difficult time recognizing people out of context. Some guy I've been working with for years and know relatively well, when I ran into him outside of work, I completely forgot who he was.

Yeah, I suspect we all get internet burnout at some point, it being so ubiquitous... I'm getting over it slowly but surely. smile
barclay:
you should have discussed your vintage porn collection with him!

A Carrie party? Wow, that would be cool. Every party should be horror movie themed.

so, valentine's day is coming up. someone i know calls it "singles awareness day," which was funny...but then she also mentioned that some people are having an anti-valentine party, which was less funny and just sadly earnest and pretentious. yeah sure, let's get the gang together and wear all black and give out "ironic" valentine cards. dude, that was cool back in HIGH SCHOOL.

singles...

this was a bad week at the ass pump (local cougar bar, better known as the gas pump). cindy and i have developed a sort of karaoke insecurity complex. "they hate us!" we say every time, "we've been here an hour and haven't sung yet, and THAT girl's sung three times already."

"does this song make me look fat?"

"does this song make me look...

Don't mind me, I'll just go stand over here for a while.
