WARNING - Impending Rant...

I think I've become so mentally oriented to problem-solving and seeing ways to optimize a situation, that when someone comes to me to repeatedly vent about the same exact problem without implementing measures to actually change that situation.. I find myself at a loss. Sure, there are things that I'm complacent about in my life... but they obviously don't bother me enough to need to vent about them on a regular basis. If they did, I would experience enough discomfort necessary to start taking action. Since people routinely come to me for advice or to gain a different perspective on things, I always assume that they are interested in hearing my thoughts on the subject. So, when someone snaps back that they know and don't "need to be lectured" about the matter at hand... I truly find myself at odds with the situation. lol Like why are you even talking to me about this, AGAIN..if you don't want my feedback?! I, too, have heard this all before and now your situation is frustrating ME and unlike you, I do not possess the power to change that for you. Oy vey. Take some responsibility for your situation/life, or stop wasting my time complaining about it. ‪#‎betterthingstodo‬‪#‎realtalk‬ ‪#‎yeahisaidit‬

They ask your opinion because they value your opinion, but they desperately want you to have the opinion they want about this in particular.  They want rather than a solution to the problem, an excuse why the problem is unsolvable and not their fault.  They lash out when you tell them what they need to do, because they DO know that's what they need to do... but don't WANT to do.  A person who asks your opinion, but consistently does NOT follow your advice is called an "Askhole"... I didn't coin the phrase but I find it often appropriate.
